Helix Nano

Helix Nano is an innovative biotech company that spent the last four years developing cancer vaccines. Now using their knowledge they are working on fighting Covid-19.

I have been asked to come up with new and unconventional idea for their brand identity. I created illustrations inspired by old biologic drawings in colors borrowed from microscope images and combined it with futuristic font.

Unlike many medical, pharmaceutical companies that have their marketing materials illustrated with photos of people I have proposed something more abstract. Without showing people, at HelixNano it was important to combine these two aspects - humanistic and scientific.

The proposal is to make it in symbolic way. Main visual idea is to contrast illustration with strong and futuristic font. The illustrations are inspired by biology vintage drawings, in colors inspired by microscope images (dark background and vivid colors).

The inspiration for the illustration style comes from three sources: vintage biology drawings, microscope imagery, and the chiaroscuro technique - using a contrast between light and dark to create depth. Colors are based on microscope imagery.

Main visual idea was to contrast hand-drawn-like illustrations with strong and futuristic font - Neue Machina.

I came up with a dedicated style for illustrations used in Decks to explain processes and ideas.
